High-frequency in vitro shoot regeneration of Saintpaulia ionantha Wendl. by light-emitting diodes

Saintpaulia ionantha Wendl. is a small flower, with variety of colors, which are commonly grown indoors for decorative purposes. Currently, micropropagation S. has been achieved certain results; however, the shoot quality as well number shoots regeneration was not high. In this study, effect LEDs system on multiplication and conducted. The leaves were cut into square patterns without main veins (1 cm × 1 cm), petiole (3 mm in diameter) thick layer (2 mm) longitudinal cell (lTCL), used initial materials. explants placed under conditions; white fluorescent tube lamp (FL) control rooting. results found that light affects regeneration, growth development shoots. LED condition combination 7R + 3B optimal high-frequency rate: 67.25%, shoots: 9.33 shoots/explant from veins. higher (number 10.00 shoots/explant, fresh weight: 150.07 mg, dry 98.64 mg) rooting rate plantlet (fresh 2.17 g; 0.09 leaf number: 20.33 leaves/plantlet) also obtained condition.
